Native forest regeneration
At Falcon Ridge Project, we are working to regenerate an ex-radiata pine forest into a thriving native bush ecosystem. This long-term restoration effort focuses on encouraging natural regeneration while strategically managing existing pine cover.
Key elements of the project include:
– Conservation planting of native species
– Invasive weed control
– Selective retention of some pine trees to protect and shade emerging native understory
This approach balances ecological restoration with practical land management. Early work is already underway in several areas across the property, laying the groundwork for a more biodiverse and resilient landscape.
This is a generational project—restoring the land for the future.

Food Forest system
At Falcon Ridge, we’ve created a regenerative food system based on permaculture design principles—working with nature to grow nutrient-dense food in a sustainable way.
Now three years in, our system is thriving. Dozens of fruit trees are beginning to produce, forming the backbone of an edible ecosystem that will grow and evolve over decades. At the heart of the garden is a 12-metre-long polytunnel, providing fresh vegetables year-round in a sheltered, controlled environment.
All irrigation is spring-fed, making the entire system low-impact and resilient. As the project grows, this food system will begin to supply our on-site accommodation with seasonal produce—giving guests a true taste of the land.

The Chainstay Cabin (Coming soon)
Perched at the top of the Falcon Ridge Project, The Chainstay is a cabin designed with bike riders in mind. With dedicated bike access and on-site storage, it offers the perfect base for two-wheeled adventure—whether you’re exploring nearby trails or just rolling in for a restful escape.
From its elevated position, the cabin boasts sweeping views out to Kāpiti Island, the Tararua Ranges, and the surrounding hills. It’s a place to pause, recharge, and take in the landscape—between rides.
Adventure-ready, rider-friendly, and deeply connected to nature

Conservation
At Falcon Ridge, conservation is at the heart of everything we do. Across our 30-acre site, we’re actively working to restore and protect native biodiversity by targeting invasive pests that threaten local ecosystems.
We use a network of traps to control populations of stoats, rats, and possums, helping to reduce predation on native birds and their habitats. In partnership with Greater Wellington Regional Council, we’re also engaged in ongoing goat and deer control, which significantly reduces damage to our native planting efforts.
These combined actions are already showing results—with fewer pests and healthier native vegetation, we’re seeing a noticeable increase in birdlife and a gradual return of ecological balance to the land.
Falcon Ridge is a place where conservation and community thrive together—nurturing nature, one step at a time.

Beehives
We’re proud to be collaborating with the Beeple Honey Collective to produce small-batch honey right here on our regenerative block at Falcon Ridge. The bees thrive among our diverse, spray-free planting—playing a vital role in pollinating fruit trees, native species, and our thriving food system.
This locally harvested honey will be available for guests staying in our accommodation.
Sweet, sustainable, and straight from the land.
